1998/1999
- The HIV/AIDS workplace policy was approved
- Info Paks were compiled and distributed
- Condocans were placed in all the buildings of the Department
1999/2000
- Provincial Departments of Agriculture were involved in reaching the agricultural farming community, increasing awareness on methods of prevention, conducting an economic impact study and investigating the links between HIV/AIDS and food security
- One internal peer educator was trained to every 100 staff members
- Our corporate communication always included a message on HIV/AIDS
- A candle of hope was lit in every management meeting
2000/2001
We pledge to:
- Establish an Employee Assistant Programme (incorporating peer educators and counsellors) to care for those living with HIV/AIDS and support the affected
- Embark on an intensive beyond awareness campaign to conscientise personnel at regional offices
- Strengthen the proposed strategies for food security and HIV/AIDS
- Mainstream initiatives into existing programmes within the sector
