The Baltic Summer reefer vessel carrying citrus from South Africa to the People's Republic of China had arrived at Shanghai Port on 10 June 2019. The historic shipment of 5200 tons of citrus in a breakbulk vessel was launched on 6 May 2019 at Maydon Wharf Port in Durban.

.Another outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported in the Heilbron area of the Free State Province in May 2019. This follows outbreaks in April 2019 in the North West, Mpumalanga and Gauteng provinces. All four outbreaks occurred outside of the ASF controlled area of South Africa and have been reported to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE)
