14 July 2022 Every year on 18 July, South Africans and the global community honour our late former president and international icon Dr Nelson Mandela by celebrating Nelson Mandela International Day. The day was officially adopted by the United Nations in November 2009 as an annual international day. The theme this year is: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Mr Mcebisi Skwatsha, will on Monday, 18 July 2022 devote 67 minutes of his time to painting the Kurland Educare Centre in celebration of the Nelson Mandela International Day. He will be joined by the Mayor of Bitou and the District Mayor of Garden Route. The deputy minister and the municipality will be celebrating the signing of a “Memorundum of Agreement” for the transfer of the land to the municipality.
