The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms. Thoko Didiza, MP will from the 23rd to the 25th of June 2022 attend the International Ministerial-level Conference on Global food security in Berlin, Germany.
The conference aims to bring together Ministers from the G7 countries and the champions’ group, as well as from key donor countries and the most
vulnerable and most affected countries, with key stakeholders from the United Nations systems, philanthropists and civil society to discuss joint action.
This conference will jointly take stock of ongoing initiatives in the area of humanitarian assistance, trade and logistics and cooperation on sustainable
agriculture, sustainable production and food systems, as well as the realization of the right to food, in order to overcome the food security crises.

The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza (MP), will lead activities that mark the commemoration of the Nelson Mandela International Day, at Qunu Village, in Mthatha on 18 July 2022.
The month of July marks Nelson Mandela Month globally, annually the month is abuzz with activities, programmes and acts of giving, and making change to people’s lives, and therefore, the fulfilment of Nelson Mandela’s values.
In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly declared 18 July as International Nelson Mandela Day, in recognition of the former South African President’s contribution to the culture of peace and freedom. The day was also declared as an appreciation of Mandela’s values and his dedication to the service of humanity.
Under the theme: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are", the minister will lead the commemoration of 67 minutes with the NARYSEC Youth, wherein the youth will be giving back by serving in their communities, by fixing and erecting a fence at Madiba Farm and installing a new roof for the cattle shed in Qunu.
Furthermore, the minister will hand over much-needed food supplies and learning material to destitute households, to bring much-needed relief to the community.

Every year on 18 July, South Africans and the global community honour our late former president and
international icon Dr Nelson Mandela by celebrating Nelson Mandela International Day. The day was
officially adopted by the United Nations in November 2009 as an annual international day. The theme
this year is: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Mr Mcebisi Skwatsha, will
on Monday, 18 July 2022 devote 67 minutes of his time to painting the Kurland Educare Centre in
celebration of the Nelson Mandela International Day. He will be joined by the Mayor of Bitou and the
District Mayor of Garden Route.

In July 2018, the deputy minister was at a community meeting in Kurland during which he was requested by the municipality to consider making available, through a donation, a piece of land situated close to the village for the purpose of building houses to alleviate the overcrowding in the
settlement. The deputy minister and the municipality will be celebrating the signing of a “Memorundum of Agreement” for the transfer of the land to the municipality.
