Agricultural Products Inspection Services

D: APIS has a legislative mandate which inter alia includes the following acts:

• Agricultural Pests Act, 1983 (Act no. 36 of 1983)

• Animal Disease Act, 1984 (Act no. 35 of 1984)

• Agricultural Products Standards Act, 1990 (Act no. 119 of 1990)

• Genetically Modified Organisms Act, 1997 (Act no.15 of 1997)

• Liquor Products Act,1989 (Act no.60 of 1989)

• Meat Safety Act, 2000 (Act no. 40 of 2000)

• Plant Breeder's Right Act, 1976 (Act no.15 of 1976)

• Plant Improvement Act, 1976 (Act no. 53  of 1976)
